12:41 pm so far this summer, i've:
-survived a 5 and a half hour long blackout
-almost passed out at the second hole of mini-golf (and thrown up pink soda and tortilla chips in the grass)
-made it all the way through mini-golf without throwing up
-listened to the mountain goats and almost nothing else. john darnielle, you are spectacular in so many ways.
-been more proud of my sister than i have ever been (first, passing this crazy test she thought she failed, THEN getting a job at a hospital she loves)
-gone 3 and a half weeks (and counting) without a word from someone who was stressing me out way too much
-discovered a love for cold icy coffee drinks (coffee coolattas are amazing, AND my mom makes a WONDERFUL icy coffee drink with our magic bullet)
-slept until noon (twice)
-had a candlelit uno tournament complete with popcorn and good songs
-learned to do what makes me happy, quitting an art program that was offering me $400 because i dreaded it every day (5 days a week! at 8:30 in the morning! at a terrifying school!)
-watched too many cartoons to count
-fallen in love with salad-making (and chickpeas!)
-made amazing irish potatoes with my mom
-seen the new harry potter movie... in theatres... on opening day (without ever having seen any other harry potter movie OR read any of the books), because i love ben and miranda too much to say no to seeing them
-decided that i don't really like bobby flay (he has about 4 billion shows, but how interesting is he really? i like throwdown sometimes, but only because it's a competition between him and someone else!)
-discovered that i am indeed cherokee, not sioux
-been asked if i was the daughter of one of my (twentysomething-year-old) co-workers, then asked by someone else if i was the daughter of another (twentysomething-year-old) co-worker. yikes.
my mind won't let me think of any others right now (that was a pretty lengthy list! it exhausted me). howeverrrr, when i do, i will document them on here, i guess.
hope all is well. (p.s. i love parentheses.. i think i just learned that) Current Mood: okay Current Music: love love love

12:40 pm show #2 of 3 - mewithoutYou they sounded AMAZING as always, and that was wonderful, but the crowd was awful! at first, sara and i sort of made friends with these people from maryland and that was nice but then mewithoutYou started playing and all these people in the crowd started going crazy and shoving everyone all over and it was horrible. sara and i got out safely and stayed off to the side for the rest of the show, so that was okay, but i was still sad that the crowd was so insane, because they never were before. i got a pretty t-shirt for $10, though!
show #3 of 3 - the national THE NATIONAL. I SAW THEM. i still can't really believe it. so joshua and i went to washington dc and thankfully it didn't rain and the weather, though pretty humid, was okay. we went to this american indian museum, which had some really cool things in it. i ate an indian taco. we went through all the exhibits and then they were closing so we left and went to the concert venue, which was pretty nice. it wasn't too big, or too small, and the stage was pretty low and we got to stand up front. i was so excited, and then they came out and it was just amazing. i'm so glad i get to see them again on friday. and i got a really great t-shirt (which was a lot more expensive than the mewithoutYou shirt, but come onnnn. it was my first time seeing the national.) and it's very soft and i love it.
aaaand today i slept until close to 12:30. lovely. Current Mood: accomplished Current Music: boxer

11:56 am bonnie 'prince' billy show last night: very long, but very good. probably because it was so long, i ended up getting dizzy (most likely from not eating since before we left to go to the show). i felt totally lame having to sit down where i had been standing (right in front of the stage) and look like an idiot just because i didn't want to end up fainting. duuumb! but will oldham sounded great and i bought a sticker. also, sara had a brief burst of non-sleepiness and cheered a few times and that was funny. i wish the stage at the trocadero wasn't so high up. being my height certainly makes my neck hurt when i go to concerts there.
also, mewithoutYou tonight! i'm so excited for that. i haven't seen them in way too long and i miss it very much. i will be sure to eat snacks right before going in.
also also, THE NATIONAL TOMORROW. i have been waiting to see them for so long and it's TOMORROW. and then i get to see them AGAIN on friday. i can't wait. Current Mood: sleepy
